Alabama Remembers 4/27/11

As most who have followed this space for any amount of time are well aware, I hail from what is still the great State of Alabama.  God let fly with a powerful set of storms a year ago today, and I know my life- and that of many, many more in my Sweet Home, Alabama will never be the same.

For the families of those whom God called home a year ago, Alabama remembers today.

To those from around the state, nation and world who have contributed to the rebuilding efforts, Alabama says thank you and remembers today.

To those who haven’t yet given to the relief efforts but would like to do so, I invite you to visit and donate whatever you can to the ongoing relief efforts.

If you can bet on but one thing, America, the 14-time National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide is always a dang good option- but a bet on the people of Alabama as a whole is an even safer one.

Keep fighting, Alabama!  Y’all stay strong and stay tough- and keep working and helping each other!

Alabama also remembers our brothers and sisters in Joplin, MO.  The last photo here is a nod to their fortitude and courage as they continue to re-build from their devastation as well.

Personally and most simply, I thank my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for watching over my family and letting all of them live. It was my mother’s last-minute decision to stay at my sister’s home versus riding the storm out in a local hotel that literally saved her life when the hotel was flattened and blown away by one of the day’s tornadoes- and I’m thankful for His hand and blessing in her decision.

May the Lord bless and keep you this day and every day- and may God continue to bless my Sweet Home, Alabama.
