It’s Hurricane Season, Florida...

It’s admittedly hard to get into the ol’ Hurricane Season spirit, you know?  We don’t swap Hurricane Season gifts…don’t have Hurricane Season turkey.  Heck, we don’t even get to go huntin’ Hurricane Season eggs!

All of us do need to remember to make our Hurricane Season resolutions, though:  resolve to know where the nearest shelters are located, resolve to prepare our homes before a storm smacks us, and resolve to know where to turn for information during an emergency.

I moved here to the Orlando area (Apopka, FL) in July of ’07, and I haven’t seen a hurricane yet.  I had more than my share of typhoons while stationed in the Navy on Guam, though- and I know what a hurtin’ they can put on you.

I also know that the longer we go without a hurricane, the less seriously folks will tend to take the ol’ preparedness evolution.  Perhaps more dangerous than a hurricane itself is being unprepared when said rain-dumper arrives.

That said, I’m urging all to make a bit of an effort towards attending next weekend’s Hurricane Expo that’ll be held Saturday, June 9th from 10:00 am- 5:00 pm at the Seminole Towne Center Mall.

The mall is located at 200 Towne Center Circle, Sanford, FL. 32771.

Best part of heading over there to learn how to keep your family safe?  Yep- it’s free!

It’s Hurricane Season, Florida… get prepared- and don’t forget to snag some Hurricane Season firecrackers while you’re out…
