When was the last time you used a phone book?

My new phone books came today- I think.  Or maybe they were here when I got in last night and I just didn’t notice ’em.

As I sort through my thoughts from today and get ready for tomorrow, I’m pondering a number of questions- “I guess I should bring those dang phone
books in from the front porch, huh?”
among them.

There’s another phone book-related question in the ol’ thought pile, though- and one others might’ve asked themselves:  “When was the last time I used one of those things?”  That’s the last time I actually used a phone book as a phone book, mind you- I’m not counting the times I’ve used one or two as a makeshift stool or a doorstop.

Google, Wikipedia and numerous other sites have surely made our lives easier, but they’ve also hastened the demise of quaint, sayings like “Hold on- I’ll go look that up in the phone book” and “Let me check the phone book and see if they screwed up and left me in it again”. Yes, time marches on.

So how about you? When was the last time you used a phone book?
