Seminole County Sheriff’s Office:  a job well done

Congratulations to Sheriff Donald Eslinger and the entire Seminole County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) for leading a successful week-long law enforcement operation here in our area that netted 50 pathetic human beings who looked to prey upon our children. And thank you.

The SCSO’s Crimes Against Children Unit surely has its hands full year-round, but I’m hoping the recent arrests of the following 50 would-be child predators will ease their workload for a bit. About 15 of them remain residents of the John E. Polk Correctional Facility on “no bond” orders as I write this, and I hope their stay is anything but a relaxing one.

Those choosing to harm children are set apart from other criminals both literally and figuratively- and with good reason. Their actions are far and away more disgusting than those of the common street thug- and they’re uniquely situated in not receiving the age-old “honor among thieves” that burglars, killers and even rapists enjoy.

There’s also a good reason they don’t fare too well in prison, either- it’s because even those whom many might consider to be the worst of us consider those who’ve harmed children to be the worst of them.

I’ll say my prayers tonight as usual and include both gratitude for and requests for a hedge of protection around all those who wear the uniform of law enforcement- including my many friends who wear the star of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and the badge of the Sanford Police Department that appears at the bottom of this blog.

I hope you’ll give thanks for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and/or your local authorities who serve to protect children from dirtbags like this each and every day. May God bless the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department and it’s work.

Great job, SCSO! Stay safe.
