Jaywalking…an Orlando family tradition that took a tragic turn this Christmas.  There are some things we shouldn’t pass along to our kids- and the habit of jaywalking should be pretty high on the “not to” list….

Another tragedy- yet a very preventable one if folks would only use sidewalks for walking and let cars use the streets.

Deadly Christmas crash: Grandmother and 2 boys in stroller struck by car

A Christmas night tragedy has left a Sunrise family grieving over the death of a grandmother while also hoping that the two young cousins she was pushing on a stroller will recover.

The grandmother, Li Fang Dong, 61, of Sunrise, and the boys were hit at the intersection of Pine Island Road and Sunset Strip at about 7 p.m., police said.

She died from her injuries. The boys, ages 1 and 2, were taken to Broward Health Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

Sunrise police officials said it appears the grandmother was not using the crosswalk the night of the crash.

Police spray-paint markings left at the scene on Thursday suggested the impact took place about 20 yards south of the crosswalk. Blood and medical equipment could still be seen at the location on Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the white Scion tC, identified only as a 23-year-old Davie resident, was not hurt and stayed at the crash site, police said.

No charges are expected at this time for the driver, and the investigation is still ongoing,” said agency spokesman Sgt. Rodney Hailey.,0,3316005.story
